1/31/2006, Great news about graduate school

Every morning, I am woken up by my cell phone's built-in alarm clock.  I lean over, still under the covers, turn off the alarm clock and check for new email that might have arrived overnight.  Really, I check my email in the first few seconds I'm awake every morning, before I'm even out of bed or anything.  Anyway, today I woke up to an email saying that I have been accepted to a graduate school.  What is particular amazing is that the acceptance came only 15 days after the application was due and 10 days after they wrote to say they were beginning to review domestic applications.  I was expecting decisions to come in around March.  This was amazing.  Really nice.  What's more, it comes with full funding, including a full tuition waiver and a livable monthly stipend.

The contract with my school ends July 24.  From there, I'll go to Tokyo for a few days of sightseeing before I leave for Seattle around July 31.  I'll take about 3 weeks to say hello and goodbye to Seattle before heading to graduate school.
