1/30/2006, Oysters with Haru-chan shop in Aioi

After school, I stopped at a little shop near the station for some oysters.  Aioi is home to some oyster harvesting companies and there are oyster beds in Aioi's shores, so we Aioians probably eat more than our fair share.  I sure do.

Had a nice time hanging out with these people.  They asked me a lot of questions, some of them really silly, but it was fun.  There was a real sense of "Welcome to the neighborhood!" When I left, they made me promise to come back.  It's a nice feeling I'd never have back home.  They also taught me some local slang.  I enjoyed their company so much, I ran to the 7-11, made prints of the photos, and ran them back when I was done.

thumbnailThe man is called Haru-chan.  I guess that must be his wife.
thumbnailThey make all kinds of fried foods to go with the alcohol they serve.
thumbnailAll of the guests were talking to me.  It was fun.
thumbnailThese ladies were particularly outgoing.
thumbnailThe shop is just a little hut.  There's a whole village of these places outside the station on the south side.  It's fashioned after a German concept.
