1/21/2006, Trip to Asuka; Brazillian music and food in Osaka

Trip to Asuka with Akemi

thumbnailOn Akemi's initiative, we went to a town outside of Osaka called Asuka.  It's in Nara prefecture, maybe a couple hours away by train.  The town was beautiful.  Mainly beautiful fields and old houses.  I had no camera, so I couldn't capture much of it for the web page, but that's okay.  I took this of Akemi praying at a temple.  (Actually, she posed.)

Brazillian music and food at a cafe in Osaka

Earlier in the week, we stumbled on this delightful cafe with Brazillian food and music.  Tonight was their big monthly Brazillian jam session.  Man.  Only in Osaka.  There are definitely no Brazillian jam sessions in Aioi.  None.  Anyway, the music and food, and especially the charming owner were great.  Actually, when we got there, it was packed.  The waitress said they were full.  Standing room only.  The owner came out just as we were riding off to go home.  She invited us in and gave us two seats that she apparently had reserved for some reason.  Right next to the music.  She remembered us from when we came earlier and I guess she likes us.  Anyway, the music was absolutely wonderful.  We even danced.  It was kind of a magical night for us.  All of these pictures were taken on my aging cell phone, so they're not that great.  I lost my digital camera a few days bfore.
