5/5/2005, Mom trip day 9: Okayama, Korakuen Japanese Garden
On Thursday, Akemi came down from Osaka and we all went to Okayama. Aioi is 1 hour 20 minutes west of Osaka, by train. Okayama is another hour east of Aioi, by train. Korakuen is one of the Big 3 gardens in Japan. Definitely worth a visit. It was my first time. I really love Japanese gardens. They are beautiful. More importantly, they are like little worlds with no purpose other than to relax and delight people who walk through them. They sell nothing. They produce nothing. They offend nobody. They're fine places to spend time. This one was no exception. There's not much of a story to tell, but plenty of photos. So, I'll stick to photos here.

After the garden
After the garden, we went out for dinner at a rice bowl (donburi) shop. Akemi had grilled pork with ginger (shogayaki), not a rice bowl. I had an eel and egg rice bowl. I forget what my mom had.
