2/6/2005, Trip to Rakan-no-sato Park in Aioi

Mr. Shimizu, one of my co-workers, turned me on to Rakan-no-sato, a big, beautiful park in Aioi.  It takes a 20 minute bus ride and a 20 minute walk to get to, but it's well worth the effort.  We were behind schedule on our plans for the day, so we took a cab to get there.  Akemi, a very skilled negotiator, got the ¥2800 (≈$28) cab ride down to ¥2000 (≈$20).  Nice!

thumbnailWhen we got there, we climbed up a hill about the size of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle.
thumbnailThe view was gorgeous.
thumbnailI enjoyed it.
thumbnailAnd, Akemi did, too.
thumbnailA map of the park.
thumbnailAn explanation in Japanese, for those who care to read such things.  It's too hard for me.  I don't know what it says.
thumbnailSaw this funny stone structure.  I think it's significant in Buddhism.  There were lots of Buddhist things all around the park.
thumbnailWe stopped for a rest in this nice place.
thumbnailVery woodsy.
thumbnail... and relaxing.
