11/26/2004, Nabemono (seafood stew) party with Akemi, Nate, and Matt

"Nabemono", or just "nabe" is a Japanese stew made from various kinds of seafood and vegetables.  The name just means pot food.  I made a big pot of nabemono and invited some friends over, including Akemi, Nate, and Matt.  Akemi is my girlfriend.  Nate and Matt live in my building.  In this case, I used prawns, clams, large scallops, cod, chicken, leeks, carrots, and shitake mushrooms.  I bought a special nabemono pot (≈¥900 / ≈$9.00) for the occasion.  We ate in the dining room in my apartment, which is a Japanese style room with tatami mats, a short table (≈45 cm / ≈18 inches), and special chairs for sitting on tatami mats (zaisu).  For dessert, we had green tea ice cream.  Although I had intended to cook everything, Akemi did about 3 quarters of the cooking.  She hates to sit and watch me cook.
