10/28/2004, Japanese sweets (wagashi)

One of my co-workers gave me some pretty Japanese sweets.  You say "wagashi" or "okashi" in Japanese.  I tried to make some really simple wagashi a while ago, but they weren't very good.  I took these pictures so I can mimic them later.

Sweet paste, wrapped in a layer of sticky rice flour (mochi) dough, then rolled in sweet red beans (azuki).

This one was obviously made in a mould.  Inside was sweet red bean (azuki) paste.
